About this Site

I have, for more years than I care to count, made plans to get our finances in order.  I have also, for more years than I care to mention, failed miserably at this task.  My mission, then, is to finally, once and for all, get us on a budget.  Hubby B and I have been married now for two years, and have a beautiful 7 month old baby boy named Ian.  We also still live in an apartment, and drive sadly aging cars, and have exactly $50 in savings.  Now, said apartment is a nice one, a spacious two-bedroom with a garage, a small deck, and a private entrance.  Plus we do apartment managing so we pay very little rent.  Our vehicles are also in good shape, just aging.  We do okay financially, but this year especially, the bills kept piling up and our paydays only seemed to get smaller (well, actually did get smaller - something I'll talk about down the road).  Plus, our ultimate goal is for me to be able to stay home as much as possible with our son, and any future kiddos we may have.

This blog will chronicle my attempts to do these things:  Make and (gasp!) follow a budget, get our credit cards and medical bills paid off, find out our credit scores and make any necessary repairs, generate more savings...you get the picture.  In a nutshell, I'd like to reverse our financial situation entirely, over the course of one year, as part of one of my commitments to change.  The other is an attempt at a healthy new me (and family!) and can be found over at Dinnertime Diva.
